Biton, David


David (Elias), son of Izah and Yosef, was born on December 29, 1952, in Casablanca, Morocco. In 1964 he immigrated to Israel with his family, who settled in Givat Olga. He graduated from the elementary school in Amishav, where he studied at the Hadassah-Neurim School. He studied carpentry. David was a modest, shy boy, However, he had a personal charm and a humorous sense of humor, which made him always the center of interest. He treated his studies and work with great seriousness, out of a sense of responsibility, and everything he did – he did well, He was an organizer, who stood out at parties and social events, played songs he wrote, composed and told jokes for the enjoyment of his friends. He had bought himself many friends because of his pleasant manner and good atmosphere. He was always willing to help anyone. He was confident in his power and ability, and just as he managed to overcome the difficulties of absorption and become accepted in society, he encouraged his friends and family to follow his path and succeed like him. At the end of his studies, he received a certificate of excellence in studies and work. The certificate was granted to him by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs. David left behind a large collection of paintings, in which he expressed his intense feelings and experiences. He used to paint at every opportunity. At home, he would draw landscape pictures and animal figures, and during the period of his military service, he would draw portraits of his commanders and members of the unit. David excelled in his work and related his future to the carpentry profession. And in the last year before his enlistment worked in his profession.
David was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early February 1971 and assigned to the Golani Brigade, completing a sabotage-battalion course at the engineering corps training base and serving as a sapper in his unit. He was a disciplined soldier who performed with precision and perfection every task he was entrusted with, and he was blessed with leadership ability and when he took on a role that required command over people, his subordinates listened willingly and with full confidence. And in his special joking, he helped his friends overcome their difficulties in Military training and operational employment. Yom Kippur War in his regiment participated in battles against the Syrian military containment northern Golan Heights. On the tenth of Tishrei Tsl”d (10/06/1973), was hit and killed David observation posts in the area of Mount Hermon. He was brought to eternal rest in the Hadera cemetery. Survived by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to the rank ofsergeant.
