Benvenisti, Meir
Son of Leah and Isaac. Born in 1903 in Jerusalem, his father’s family immigrated from Yugoslavia in 1867, and his father was one of the senior officials of the Valero Bank, and after completing his studies at the Lemel School in Jerusalem, Meir began to work in the railway offices in Haifa. On September 5, 1938, a few months after he married, he was murdered by an Arab who infiltrated his office. In a nearby office, his co-worker, Moshe Sternfeld, was also murdered. The two victims were laid to rest in the Haganah section of the Nahalat Yitzhak cemetery. He left a wife, a mother, four brothers and five sisters.
