Ben-Simon, Amram

Ben-Simon, Amram

Ben Avraham and Solika Son of-Simon, was born in Morocco in the year 1945. In 1963, he immigrated to Israel with his widowed mother and other family members, first living in Tel Mond. The absorption in Israel was not easy for him. Amram was drafted into the IDF in November 1970 and assigned to the Engineering Corps. After basic training, he completed a professional course at the end of which he was assigned the position of platoon. Because of his relatively older age, and since he bore the burden of supporting his family, he was given a shortened compulsory service. After being released from regular service, he was assigned to a reserve unit of the Engineering Corps and was called for periods of reserve service. He passed through the Yom Kippur War and returned to his home safe and sound. On July 17, 1974, Amram was called up for reserve duty, and on the 19th of Av 5734 (7.8.1974) he fell in the line of duty in the Sinai. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in his hometown, Sderot. He was survived by a mother, three brothers and four sisters.
