Ben Simcha (Freidzon), Shalom
Son of Rachel and Yitzhak, was born in 1920 in Pruszkow, Poland. His family immigrated to Israel during the war and extermination. He fled to the Russian lines, enlisted in the Red Army and served as a gunner on all fronts, until he was seriously wounded but saved himself by blocking the blood flow with a rag. He was transferred to a hospital and lay there for six months. After the liberation he decided to leave the Diaspora and went on the escape route until he immigrated to Israel on an illegal immigrant ship. Was a laborer and a member of the Haganah, and immediately joined the ranks as the situation worsened and served as a gunner in the Israel Defense Forces. Shalom was outstanding in combat spirit and survived all the battles but fell victim to a road accident on Sunday, 3 November 1948, when he was on his way from Hartuv near Beit Jamal: The car overturned and he was killed on the spot. A. On the 17th of Elul 5710 (August 30, 1950) he was transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
