Ben-Hamo, Aharon (“Alfasi”)
Son of Jacob and Leah. He was born on 19.12.1938 in the town of Taurirt, Morocco. The family immigrated to Israel in 1951. Aharon completed his elementary studies there and studied for three years at Yeshivat Hadarom (Yeshiva High School) in Rehovot. He belonged to the Bnei Akiva youth movement. Not only was a good student there but he was an assistant to new students. When he was a student in Yeshivah, a Sinai system broke out and Aharon disguised himself as a soldier and went to the desert for a “visit to his pleasure.” He then moved on to a seminar at Beit Hakerem in Jerusalem, but did not find what he wanted there because more dynamic work was sought. When he left the seminar, he was drafted into the IDF in November 1958 and served in the Golani Brigade, completing a platoon commander course specializing in sabotage and patrols. On vacation, he did not come home to rest from his arduous training, but worked hard and supported his father. When he was discharged from the army, Aharon looked for a job and sent him to Beit Dagon at the dairy technician’s school, but after six months he left the army and later became chief mechanic at Lod airport. But the plan did not take place because he fell in a battle that took place west of Bir Gafgafa in Sinai on the 9th of Iyar 5727 (8.6.1967), the fourth day of the battles, His battalion was hit by his half-track and he died. He left a wife and a child. He was buried in the military cemetery in Bari and later moved to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. In the book “On Your Platforms Space” published by comrades in arms, his history was brought. His memory was included in a pamphlet in memory of the children of Lod, published by the municipality.
