Ben-Ezra, Yosef


Yosef, son of Rivka and Yitzhak son of-Ezra, was born in 1912 in Jerusalem. He was orphand from his parents and educated in an orphanage. Later he studied mechanics and worked in this field. Over the years he married a wife and the couple had six children. During the Second World War he fulfilled his civic duty in the Haganah and in the War of Independence he served in the “People’s Guard.” Yosef fell on the 11th of Tammuz 5708 (18.7.1948) by a shell during his duty to distribute water to the residents of the besieged city. He was put to rest at the cemetery in Givat Shaul in Jerusalem, leaving behind a wife and six children.
