Ben-Barak (Brisk), Yehoshua


Son of Moshe Azriel and Chaya-Sarah. He was born on January 28, 1941, in the city of Hiduhadze, Hungary, where he did not know his father because at the age of two his father was killed in foreign fields in distant Russia during the Second World War and later his family was deported to Austria to slave labor camps. Arrived on the way to Eretz Israel in 1951 and Yehoshua in the framework of Youth Aliyah, and he and his brother were sent to the “home of the fathers” of the Panevezh Yeshiva, where he completed his elementary studies, and in 1954 his family moved to Jerusalem. In August 1960 he was drafted into the IDF for active duty in the Artillery Corps and was released three months before the end of the IDF Service decided to study at the Hebrew University and enrolled in the Humanities Faculty of Mathematics but early release weighed on him and then left the university, he returned to the army and served in the regular army until 1964 that he believes “this is the only company in the country with no corruption but companies”. When he was released from the army, he returned to the university and studied psychology. During his studies he worked for the Eretz Israel Bank – Britain, but soon left this job because he did not like business. He was hired to work in the university’s “hardware warehouse” and there he expressed his desire for order and sensitivity to the organization. For several months he also worked as a driver at the Mekasher. He loved Jerusalem with all his Lev and soul and traveled there for long and short periods, and during his trips he liked to photograph Nofe. Another hobby was for him and he discovered another side in his character: he was a member of the Association of Astronomy Astronomers “at the Hebrew University. Until he received the degree cB.Ac he had two exams. During the reserve duty he underwent a parachuting course and was attached to the heavy mortar unit in the Paratroopers Brigade. At the outbreak of the Six-Day War he was called to report and on the 28th day of Iyar 5727 (7.6.1967), the third day of the battles, fought in Old Jerusalem, and in this battle he discovered the bravery and readiness of the battle and fell in the car that he was brought to rest at home The military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. In the book “Marinas Gabro” of the Paratroopers Command were brought his history and the story of his last battle. The story of his life and death was presented in the book “Nizkor” published by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. And the Students’ Union in it, and edited by Yehuda Ha-Ezrachi
