Behar, Yehuda


Son of Rachel and Shmuel, was born in 1931 in Petah Tikva, where he completed elementary school and began to work as an assistant to his father in his shop. All his life he was an active member of Maccabi Hatzair, and at the time he joined his friends in the first infantry company, which was organized in the moshav, so they did not distribute soldier’s books yet and there was no medical examination. To protect the borders of the country, Yehuda served in the Alexandroni Brigade, participated in the battles of Kfar Yavetz and the Triangle, and on the night of May 24-25, 1948, with the entry of the Arab Legion into the fighting, the situation in Jerusalem deteriorated and the road to it was cut off. Operation son of-Nun A, in which his battalion was tasked with capturing Latrun, the attacking force encountered better enemy forces, and many of the soldiers fell in battle Water.
