Becker, Nachman
Son of Esther and Moshe, was born in 1913 in the city of Rowna, Poland. He graduated from elementary school and was active since childhood. He specialized in carpentry. During the Second World War he was uprooted and throughout the war he was tormented in Russia. After the victory over the Germans returned to Poland, joined the kibbutz “Dror”, wandered with him to Germany and with him went on the way to the illegal immigration. He was arrested in Cyprus for two years and only arrived in Israel during the War of Independence. Nachman was drafted immediately upon his arrival and sent to the Menara. He became involved in the agriculture, learned the language and was active in the Hagana. On August 27, 1948, he was one of the eight new immigrants who fell there in one day, when a mine exploded, and were buried in a mass grave in Manara. On the 1st of Elul 5710 (14.8.1950) he was put to rest at the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
