Becher, Shlomo (Shmuel)


Son of Rachel and Aaron, was born in 1918 in Egypt. In his hometown he studied in an Italian elementary school, continued to study for a while in high school, and immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1933. Shlomo settled in Jerusalem, worked in various crafts, and finally specialized in baking, married a couple and had two daughters. In July 1946 Shlomo was released from the British army, returned to Jerusalem, continued to work in the bakery, and at the same time returned to full activity in the British army, where he served as a member of the Haganah. “Haganah.” After the establishment of the State of Israel, he was sent to guard duty in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and was later sent as reinforcements – and baking bread fighting forces – Kibbutz Kiryat grapes. On Wednesday Sivan Independence (06/10/1948) evening ,, truce declaration Arab shelled the kibbutz most violent bombardment. A shell that fell near the entrance to the dining room exploded and killed six fighters, including Shlomo. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Kibbutz Kiryat Anavim. He left a wife and two daughters. The circumstances of his fall are described in the diary of the regional commander.
