Bar, Mordechai

Son of Frieda and Yosef. He was born on June 11, 1916, in Halberstadt, Germany, and although he studied in a secular high school, he maintained his devotion to tradition. When he was 20 years old, Mordechai immigrated to Eretz Israel and joined Kibbutz Chafetz Chaim and later left the kibbutz and joined a work group in the Carmel Forest to support his parents who were about to immigrate to Israel. On March 31, 1938, when the group was busy paving a road in the Carmel lands, a group of Arabs suddenly opened fire on the workers. Mordechai was laid to rest in Haifa’s cemetery and left behind his parents, brother and sister.
