Bar-David, Chaim (“Bambino”)

Son of Avraham and Rachel. Born in Tunis, Tunisia on October 11, 1948, the family immigrated to Israel in 1958 and after attending the “Tze’elim” elementary school, attended evening classes. He worked in electrician and during his free time, he liked to play sports and was a member of the Judo circle. He also liked to listen to music. In February 1966 he was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces, and he joined the IDF in compulsory military service, and the Six Day War broke out on July 14, 1967, in battle with the Egyptian enemy to the banks of the Suez Canal in Qantara. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Be’er Sheva. The commander of his regiment wrote to his parents in his condolence letter that he had fulfilled his role with joy and will, and showed initiative and resourcefulness in his dedication and loyalty. “He was an example of his personality as a man and as a soldier in his relationship to his friends and in his concern for them,” he said. He was therefore loved by both his friends and his commanders.
