Babayoff, Reuven (“Ravela”, “Rubka”)


Son of Rabi and Rina. He was born on July 15, 1946 in Jerusalem. At the age of seven, you gave birth to his father and mother within a week, and after 30 days of mourning, he was absorbed in the “Matza” children’s farm in Jerusalem, where he grew up and developed to the satisfaction of his educators in terms of education, religion and society. When he graduated from the Mossad, he moved to a youth group in the “Youth Aliyah” branch of the youth movement, where he also distinguished himself in his academic talents and his serious attitude toward work, and quickly became one of the pillars of society in the agriculture. He had a tendency to music and even sports. After three years in Shluchot he moved on to continue his studies at the religious seminar of Aliyat Hanoar in Beit Hakerem where he was ordained for teaching and training. As a qualified teacher he could not enlist in military service, but he did not, and in November 1965 he joined a combat company and was accepted as a “Golani” and reached the rank of sergeant. Participated in the Six Day War and fought on the Syrian level. After his release he aspired to continue his studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. But before he completed his regular service, on the 28th of March, 1967, he fell while serving in the vicinity of Beit Yosef. Was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. On the first anniversary of his death, a Torah scroll was put in his name for the “Moza” children’s institution and a Torah library was opened there in his honor. A book in his memory called “Reuven” was published after they fell.
