Azoulay, Isaac


Son of Yamna and Jacob. He was born in 1940 in Morocco, the third son of a four-year-old family, and when he was 17 years old, the family immigrated to Israel and established their home in Hadera, where he studied at the Alliance and Morocco high schools. In mid-May 1959, Yitzhak was drafted into the IDF and assigned to the Armored Corps. He completed basic training and was sent to the Sherman tank course. In October 1961, Yitzhak was discharged from compulsory service and was assigned to a reserve unit of the Armored Corps, and the discharge certificate states that Yitzhak fulfilled his duties with dedication and responsibility.In March 1988 Yitzhak was called up for active reserve duty and went to his unit in the Haganah, A. As a security guard. On the 13th of Adar, 5748 (13.3.1988), Yitzhak fell during his service and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Hadera. Survived by Raya – Rivka, four children – Yigal, Anat, Smadar and Dorit, parents, and three brothers – Yehiel, Eli and Avraham. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “Yitzhak joined the unit well and devoted himself to the unit, and after a while he was promoted to the rank of sergeant.
