Avivi, Moshe
Son of Yaffa and Yechezkel was born on 21 August 1931 in Haifa to a family of working people, and he completed his studies in the school for the children of workers, and he worked as a metalworker and loved the handicraft. He was active in Shura and belonged to the “Hevel Yami Israel” association, and he saw the future of the nation in the development of seamanship. He participated in the battles of Mishmar Ha’emek and Misgav Am and the conquest of Mount Canaan. The navy offered him a position on the home front, but he refused to accept it, claiming that the battles were still in full swing and that all the forces needed to reinforce the front. On the night of 5-6 May 1948, the battle for the liberation of Safed began. The Palmach fighters stormed the hill of the fortress that controlled the city, and the battle was fought on the “nipple” at the top of the hill, which was well fortified by the Arabs, and the force was unable to conquer the “nipple.” He was buried in Safed before the age of eighteen years.
