Avichazar, Mordechai

The son of Naomi Rivkah and Yitzhak, was born in 1926 in Tel Aviv. He graduated from elementary school and began to work. From his youth he dreamed of revenge of his enemies. With the outbreak of World War II, he waited impatiently for the moment when he could join the ranks of the fighters. At the age of 17, he forged his documents to be accepted into the British Army and enlisted without his parents’ knowledge. He served in Egypt, Libya and Italy. After his discharge from the British army he worked and was the main supporter of the family. With the outbreak of the War of Independence Mordechai joined the ranks of the defenders of Tel Aviv. He then abandoned his job and enlisted in full mobilization. He was sent to the front in Jerusalem, where he fought in the ranks of the “Palmach” in the battles of Katamon and Mount Zion and in the breach to the Old City of Jerusalem. On the 10th of Iyar, May 19, 1948, he fell on the way to Kiryat Anavim and was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Anavim.
