Asulin, Meir Mordechai


Son of Ellis and Hananiah. Born on 6 March 1968 in Tiberias, his family moved to Ashdod where he grew up and studied at the Shilo Elementary School in Ashdod and continued in the junior high school at the Youth College in Jerusalem. He was a talented boy, loved drawing, was interested in art, and loved all kinds of music, Meir was a bereaved family and his father fell in the War of Attrition. He enlisted in the IDF and urged his mother to sign him and allow him to go to a combat unit. His wish was the Golani Brigade. At the beginning of August 1986, he was drafted into the IDF and was assigned to the Golani Brigade, and after a year of service in the brigade he requested a transfer and he was referred to the Ordnance Corps on 24 December 1988. He was buried at the military cemetery in Ashdod. He was succeeded by his mother, two brothers and three sisters – Michael, Jacob, Dina, Yochi and Pnina, and his family commemorated the publication of Keter Mordechai, which deals with the Megilat Esther. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “… Meir went from us while he was young and fresh, in a tragedy so tragic and painful … The commanders and soldiers of the unit grieve for this and share the sorrow of the family.”
