Asraf, Yitzhak
Son of Moshe and Solika. Born in 1950 in Skoura, Morocco, the family immigrated to Israel in 1962. He studied at the Uziel religious elementary school in Ashkelon, and later studied in a high school yeshiva in Netanya, where he was attracted to driving and handling machines. But his marital status did not allow him to do so, and he tried every opportunity to help his friends and neighbors, since his brothers and sisters, who were older than him, were married. 1967, and was assigned to the Armored Corps, and when it was time for him to wear army uniform, he was offered to postpone his service, but he refused. As the sole breadwinner of the family, he said to return to work after his discharge from the army and to support his elderly and weak parents until his two younger brothers grew up. His friends said he was proud of his combat uniform. On his last visit to the house, he told his family and friends how pleased he was that he had completed a course. But on Wednesday, October 26, 1968, he fell in the area of the Suez Canal, while carrying out his duties when the bunker was shelled and received a direct hit, and was brought to eternal rest in the Ashkelon cemetery. Noted: “I do not mean to address you, parents, words of comfort. That is what we need. We all remember him on the 4th of Cheshvan when the first shells began to fall in the outpost and Yitzhak ran, and kissed him in his hands, towards death on the banks of the canal. Yitzhak was not only a devoted friend, but also a good soldier – and a soldier like him as a good son! “His name was immortalized in the book” Yad LaNefelim – Bnei Ashkelon “published by the municipality.
