Ashkenazi, Abraham


Son of Yitzhak and Tony. He was born on the 24th of Elul 5711 (24.9.1951) in Jaffa. He studied at the Saadia Gaon elementary school in Or Yehuda and, despite being a naughty boy, always excelled in his studies. He was prominent in all sports and was a member of a sports association in his area. After completing elementary school, he began studying at the religious high school in Ramat Gan. At the beginning of his high school studies there was a significant change in his lifestyle. He became more independent in his work, much in his studies and reading, and participated in the school team in various sports, such as soccer, long runs and light athletics, and won various medals. Abraham was a lively boy full of joy. He traveled extensively throughout the country, was involved in social life and loved to help others. He liked to read, and in his bookcase to this day, high school textbooks, sociology, psychology, political science, and books on military strategy he had acquired for himself. Among his books are also publications in the field of agriculture, whose problems he has studied. He also read literature and literature on current issues, and also wrote poetry. His greatest ambition was to engage in physical education, and he completed his studies at the Physical Education School in Givat Washington. Avraham was drafted into the IDF during the last week of October 1969, and was eager to serve as a combat pilot, but his mother’s refusal to volunteer for a parachute combat unit forced him to volunteer for a paratrooper unit, In Kibbutz Yodfat in the Upper Galilee, he loved the life of the kibbutz and at every opportunity he used to praise Chaim Ella, who returned his military and personal equipment to the IDF and continued to work in the kibbutz. On 24.5.1972, three months before his discharge from the IDF, he fell during his service. Was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
