Artel, Tuvia
Son of Atara (Kreina) and Aryeh. He was born on December 8, 1911 in Turka, Poland. At an early age, he joined Hashomer Hatzair and was active in a branch in his city. Eventually, he became the head of the local branch, and this was his job until he immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1939. In Israel he joined Kibbutz Tel Amal (Nir David) where he worked in agriculture. On “Black Saturday” (29.6.1946) he went with the many members of Tel Amal to help the Tel Yosef and Ein Harod farms that had been surrounded by the British in order to lift the siege from them. Near Ein Harod, the British opened fire on machine guns, Tuvia and another member of his kibbutz, Yaakov Glazer, were killed on the spot. Tuvia was brought to eternal rest in Nir David. He left a wife and a son.
