Arnon, Benjamin (Benji)


Son of Frida and Meir, was born on 16.6.1927 in Tel Aviv. He completed his studies at the agricultural school in Mikvah Israel and from there worked as a partner in the “Sela” group in Giv’atayim, in the marble and stone industry. He is an active member and an outstanding athlete in the “Maccabi” Ramat Gan association. Benyamin was active in the Hagana, was one of the first volunteers and served in the Alexandroni Brigade. Modest and devoted, and fulfilled his duty in the army as in his civilian life. He rejected the proposal to move to another position, because he wanted to stay with his friends. During the War of Independence he participated in many battles. Benjamin was seriously injured in the “Danny” operation, in a battle at Dir-Treif near Beit Nabala, and was brought to Beilinson Hospital. Where he died of his wounds on the 5th of Tammuz 5708 (12.7.1948) and was brought to eternal rest in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
