Amrani, Yisrael (Chic-Chic)


Yisrael (Chic-Chic), son of Roma and Yosef Amrani, was born on October 21, 1926, in Tel Aviv. He later moved to Alonim, where he joined the Hebrew settlement police. Yisrael sang well, was an outstanding athlete and was awarded medals in several running competitions. he Israel represented the Land of Israel in Athens as a running champion and returned with a medal.
He was a member of the Hagana (a squad leader), but about three months before his death he joined Etzel. During the War of Independence Yisrael worked as a radio operator in Ramle. On the 11th of Iyar 5708 (May 20, 1948), fighting with exceptional bravery, Yisrael suffered serious wounds and six hours later he died in the hospital and was laid to rest in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
