Almadawi, Albert (Reuven)


Son of Eliyahu and Chasiba. He was born in 1948 in Meknes, Morocco, and immigrated to Israel in 1955. He received his elementary education at the “Knaan” school in Safed, and studied at a vocational school in “Miftan.” In February 1966, he was drafted into the IDF and was assigned to the Combat Engineering Corps. He participated in the Six-Day War, in the reprisal operation known as Operation Karameh and more. The family had never said anything about his activities and experiences in the army, not only because of the secrecy of the matter, but because of his modesty and dislike of boastfulness. On the 29th of Tishrei, October 21, 1968, Albert fell near Kerem Shalom, while carrying out his duties. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Safed. The commander of his unit wrote to his parents, in a letter of condolences, among other things, “During his service, he performed difficult operational tasks, out of a strong desire, being a personal example in the ability to execute…”
