Adlerstein-Tuchman, Chana


Daughter of Ilza and Yitzhak, was born on April 15, 1917 in the city of Osnau, Czech Republic. She was the eldest daughter of an old and wealthy Zionist family. As a child, her parents moved to Vienna, where she was educated. When Chana immigrated to Israel in the autumn of 1937, she joined the “Betlem” kibbutz, which later came to be an independent Kibbutz for Ein Gev. From her early youth she received defensive training and participated in defense. During the War of Independence, Chana had a command post and stood at the main front of the point. On the day of the first bombardment of Ein Gev, the 3rd of Sivan, June 10, 1948, Chana fell when she rushed to the channel to reach her position, and after a few minutes she was found dead, leaving a husband and two sons. She was buried in Tiberias and then laid to eternal rest in the Ein Gev cemetery.
