During his service, Suleiman sought to experience activity in another sector as well. He was transferred to the sector of Eilat and the Arava, but soon felt bored and asked to return to the Gaza Strip, which he loved so much and knew as the palm of his hand. In this place where he saved the lives of many soldiers, he died. Suleiman fell in operational activity on 6 March 2008. That morning he moved with his friends from the unit in the “Sufa” jeep near the Kissufim checkpoint. An explosive device detonated with tremendous force near the jeep, and all passengers were injured. Suleiman was killed on the spot. The driver of the jeep, First Sergeant Liran Banai of the Givati Brigade, was mortally wounded and a few days later died of his wounds. Two soldiers in the back were lightly wounded. Suleiman was buried in the cemetery in the city of Giza. He left behind two widows – Antisar and Yasmin, seven small orphans aged six months to eight years – the sons Muhammad, Yazem, Ahed and Tamer, and the daughters Amal, Yasmin, and Tamar; He also left a pair of parents, six sisters – Samaya, Samira, Kafaya, Nadia, Najah and Zohara, and seven brothers – Yasser, Tayseer, Imad, Salim, Muhammad, Ibrahim and Ka’ifeh. After his fall Suleiman was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant. A verse from the Koran was inscribed on his tombstone: “May God have mercy on him.”
